Working Itself to Death

Posted by Kathe (Marquette, Michigan, United States) on 7 September 2008 in Animal & Insect.

This poor fellow seemed to be oblivious to the fact that his wings were in such bad shape. He is obviously very close the end of his life, but just keeps on working. And doing a damn good job of it too.
Photo Friday: Extraordinary

Sad little guy..but he sure is determined to get every last bit he can get out of this flower. Nice macro!

@Marcie: Thanks, Marcie. It WAS sad seeing him going over and over the entire flower. I kept waiting for him to fly off, especially when I got within centimeters from him with the camera. But he didn't. :^(

Beth from United States

OMG, that's so interesting. Cool find. Poor bee :(

@Beth: I asked him to come home with us so I could take care of him. But he said he had too much work to do. ;^)

Mindy from United States

Ouch. This is one of those, "It's so horrible, I can't look, yet so interesting, i can't stop looking" types of images.
