White-Breasted Nuthatch

This bird's relative, the rose-breasted nuthatch, is one of my favorite birds -- second only to the black-capped chickadee. My family (especially my dad and I) used to hand-feed chickadees and nuthatches all year round. I haven't seen as many of the white-breasted nuthatches though.
Although I heard all three of these birds today -- as well as several other species -- this was the only one I was actually able to see. With the weather turning colder, the songbirds are moving deeper into the woods. Maybe my next big gift that I receive should be a pair of snowshoes! ;^)
