@jane | wildgulch: My guess is a gull. The other possibility is a pigeon since this was found in an area where a lot of pigeons hang out (it's near a parking garage). But it really didn't look like a pigeon feather to me. And since it's near the lake (and a dumpster), there are also a lot of gulls hanging around the same area. And crows...but it's obviously not a crow feather. ;^)

Your photo has just reminded me that this feather also could have come from the snowy owl that I spotted near this particular area last Autumn. Probably not - but I'm no expert. :^)
