@Hiro: It was taken indoors, with only sunlight through the covered windows - with the sun being on the opposite side of the house in the evening.

I only used the auto setting - and I may have actually had it on the "no flash" setting. I don't remember. Thanks for your suggestions, Hiro. I'm still learning how to use my DSLR. I can use all of the help I can get. :^)

@Shelby: Yeah, like "You're lucky your using that zoom lens and don't actually have that damn camera in my face!" *LOL*
