Correction

Not the greatest shot, but it seems I owe Michi and Ren an apology. Although Ren is still not quite as big, I think it's safe to say Michi is a full-fledged frog. (Ooooh...I LIKE accidental alliterations like that! heh heh) And I also think it's safe to say they are not Northern Leopard Frogs as I had initially thought. It appears they are most likely Northern Green Frogs.

Hey...anyone could've made the same mistake! Except maybe a herpetologist - which I most definitely am not. The tadpoles came to us unidentified, and online research results came up with the leopard frog. Now I've discovered (with even more research) that the tadpoles of both species are very similar. Of course, I could still be wrong - they may actually be some other species entirely.

Ok, which one is the one-eyed frog you mentioned in your comment about Prissy the other day??? And, how did you get a one-eyed frog???? ;-)

@B. Thomas: This is Michi - who has both eyes.

This whole frog thing started out as my daughter's biology project. Since nobody else in her group wanted (or they couldn't) take the tadpoles home, we got 'em. There were three, which my daughter named Michi (the biggest), Yasu (who didn't make it to froggy-hood unfortunately), and Ren (the smallest). Around the time we mysteriously lost Yasu, Ren also mysteriously lost an eye. Michi and little Ren have both survived quite well.

Well, thanks for solving the one-eyed frog mystery. I get together with some old college friends a couple of times a year, and we have had a frog theme all of the years, so we get a kick out of anything froggy. ;-)

@jane | wildgulch.com: It was taken through the glass of the aquarium-turned-frog-tank. I usually try to open the lid to take pictures, but, here, Michi is way too close to it. Don't think I want to chase a frog around the apartment. Crickets are bad enough. And ESPECIALLY not with my cats "helping". ;^)
