I Can Haz Deez?

This little mouse startled me as much as I startled it this morning. I was walking along a path when all of a sudden something jumped out of the grass and brush on the side of the path and hit my leg. I spent several minutes following and photographing it, then a bird flying over frightened the mouse and it hopped into the little stream running through the area. The poor thing was obviously terrified - and probably very cold in that water - so I walked away, continuing to my destination (Gaines Rock).

I was happy to see my little friend on my way back. It was no longer in the stream, and appeared to be calmed down quite a bit. I spent another several minutes taking shots and observing the mouse. It even got brave enough to try climbing up inside my pantleg. Thankfully, it decided against doing just that.

Before leaving, I plucked a few berries (left over from last year) from a nearby tree and gave them to the little mouse as a token of thanks.

How could anyone not love this little face?! It doesn't look scary at all!
