Homemade Hockey Rink

Posted by

There has been a rink here every winter for as long as I can remember. But I never see anyone using it. (Where are my hockey skates when I need them?)
When I was a little kid, I learned to skate with my older brothers' hockey skates (which were way too big). It was years before I finally got a pair of figure skates (used and also too big). It was hard to make that switch. I even used to play street hockey (without skates) with my brothers and neighborhood boys.

We had a hockey rink in our yard when I was little, although we spent much more time skating on ponds (big ponds) or at the college rink. I too skated in my brothers' old hockey skates. I hated the only pair of figure skates I ever got - those toe picks were killers. Haven't skated in years, but this brings back lots of good memories.
