Each Independence Day, Marquette's fireworks take place in the Lower Harbor. (I didn't realize until last night that I could actually see some of them from my home.) Every year, they are fired off from the end of the old ore dock - and sometimes also from the breakwall.
This was the first year I've had my dslr for the 4th of July. Unfortunately, I didn't quite get the focus right, so none of the shots turned out to be what I'd hoped. I'll have to wait until next year to try again - and hopefully remember to bring my point-and-shoot with which I was able to manage some much more decent shots last year. (I forgot to grab it last night!)
The nearly-full moon complimented the fireworks show quite well, I thought.
