Great Horned Owl and Owlets

Posted by
Kathe (Marquette, Michigan, United States) on 5 August 2015 in Animal & Insect.

This family of great horned owls was nesting in a window of a church. The male (not pictured) was shot with a BB gun, sent to a local raptor rehabilitation center, and recently released. Meanwhile, the female continued feeding her youngsters - with some help from the Chocolay Raptor Center, who occasionally made food drops at the church.

This photo was taken on May 20, 2015, and the young owls fledged shortly thereafter. You can read more about their story here.
